Mauritius – Update on measures taken to minimize the spread of COVID-19

05 maj, 2020

The designated operator of Mauritius, Mauritius Post, asks us to inform other Union member countries and their designated operators that the Government of Mauritius has decided to extend the current curfew until 1 June 2020 and to implement additional reinforcement measures intended to limit the spread of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19).

Therefore, the situation of force majeure declared previously is to be extended until 1 June 2020.

As a result, Mauritius Post is currently unable to meet its contractual obligations, particularly with regard to the acceptance and delivery of all types of mail (letter-post, parcel-post and EMS items).

However, with effect from 15 May 2020, the Government of Mauritius will gradually lift the confinement measures, enabling some businesses to resume operations. Mauritius Post is constantly monitoring the situation and will keep its partners informed of any changes.

Mauritius Post thanks all Union member countries and their designated operators for their understanding
